High-temperature hook-up wires

Conductors
Soft, annealed copper-silver plated (for temperatures upto 200oC) or nickel plated (for temperatures upto 260oC).

Insulation
PTFE Spiral Wrapped and fused.

Tape made of PTFE fluorocarbon resins is applied spirally around conductor in multiple overlaps under precisely controlled tensions. Tapes fuse into an homogenous mass during the sintering process. This insures superior dielectric qualities.

Also available: Fiberglass braided and metal sheathed.

Advantages

  • Upper Service Temperatures: PTFE fluorocarbon resins are utilized at continuous service temperatures of 250oC.
  • Overload current protection: Withstands overheating owing to transient current overloads. Greatly reduces hazards of flashover in tightly bundled control wiring and subsequent damage to adjacent wires.
  • Fire Protection: Will not propagate flame or serve as fuel for fire.
  • Soldering Iron Resistance: Will not melt or flow on exposure to hot soldering irons.
  • Electrical Properties: PTFE has a low dielectric constant and dissipation factor. High dielectric strength insulation resistance show minimum variations over wide temperature and frequency ranges.
  • Electrical Stability: The electrical properties of PTFE are not altered by long-term heating.
  • Chemical Resistance: PTFE is unaffected by long-term exposure to virtually all chemicals and corrosive environments. Will not absorb water.
  • Weather resistance: Virtually unaffected by outdoor exposure. Unaffected by exposure to ultraviolet rays.
  • Resistance to Mechanical Abuse: PTFE resists damage from abrasion during conduit pulling or rough handling.
